TreyH.79782 (Customer) asked a question.

self-service for adding personal app (free dev account)

I have self service enabled for personal app set up, but for some reason I cant seem to uncover why the app settings, after being added to the dashboard, show the credentials must be set your IT admin and when i click the chiclet i get a 404 redirect error. When i go to applications, the newly added apps do not show, but they do show in the Applications/Self-Service/Usage section. I cant find anywhere in the Applications or Self-Service sections options to approve or add credentials or add the app.

    Hi Trey

First of all, many thanks for keep pushing your issues through The Community.

Regarding your comments in regards, I would say that you should be facing some kind of unexpected behavior on your Cloud Org. since behavior described looks not aligned with official KB.

May I advise you raise a ticket with Okta Support? They will clarify your issue and provide you any additional information that for sure is going to be useful.

Just in case you will proceed raising a ticket, feel free to add into the case. I would really appreciate to join there in order to learn a bit more about this feature and broad my knowledge on Okta Service’s behavior.

Looking forward to hearing back from you and keep collaborating on your issue resolution.

    Best regards.

thanks, I'll check it out. The app is listed in the directory with a logo in '+add Apps' on the users dashboard but not in the add application directory in the admin console. its actually Linkedin, on add apps its there but in the admin, only the Linkedin Learning is available, i was just thinking i could add it without going thru those steps.

Would you be able to share few screenshots (anonymized) to figure it out properly?

    No rush from my side.

    TIP:

i thought maybe this was an issue with AD imported users, but even with adding new users directly in okta, i still get this IT admin alert.

(fyi- i have self service enabled)

So i also tried this installation by using the "on the fly" browser plug-in method, which worked as I logged in to the site directly using my browser and the credentials were save and the chiclet was automatically added to dashboard through the plug-in, but when trying to re-use the chiclet to reenter the site (either thru the dashboard or browser plug-in) , the 404 error happens again and I see the same IT must set password warning. I must be missing a setting somewhere.

this is weird, when inspecting the link created from the "on the fly" added app which in this case was linkedin, it shows the url as test.com./help/servlet/rtaImage?refid=0EM1Y0000011o6F

One more thing Trey, congrats for your different approaches about your issue.

More than impressive taking in consideration that you are a newbie on Okta’s env.

Placido, thank you for your efforts!!! I still believe this is a self-induced error. Im going to keep working on it, no better way to learn then troubleshooting your own mistakes.
