I highly recommend reading through the Okta guides to familiarize yourself with the platform and how provisioning works. This would help answer your questions. Impact and down time would depend on the state of your current configuration, what applications you're integrating, and what provisioning features are being used.

If you configure G Suite to use SSO then yes, any user who is not a Super Admin will need to auth through Okta. Regarding if Okta completely goes down, they do guarantee a 99.9% uptime and I've not experienced a situation where users were completely unable to authenticate. You can find more information about Service Status and historical information at https://status.okta.com/.

The 'G Suite Provisioning' support article provides great information on the G Suite integration. (https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/Provisioning/Google/google-provisioning.htm)

Depending on what attributes you plan to import I would also take a look at 'Google API/UI Attribute Inconsistency'. There are a few attributes that don't come over as 'expected', so definitely worth checking out. (https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/Provisioning/Google/troubleshooting.htm)

Once you have setup G Suite and imported your users, you will need to setup your additional provisioning-enabled applications. (https://help.okta.com/en/prod/Content/Topics/Apps/Provisioning_Deprovisioning_Overview.htm)

Hi, thanks for sharing the guide. However, I have some questions about setting up Google to Okta authentication.

What is the impact and down time when we perform the provisioning?

All SSO will instead signed in from Okta?

What happened if Okta server down, will it affect our G-suite SSO signed?
