  • This is Bogdan from Okta support.

The Password Policy that is applied for Active Directory users is enforced by the password policy that is setup in AD, Okta will look at AD for the Password History.

Please review this Kb for additional details about the way Security policies/Password Policies work in Okta.

    Thanks Molly,

After reviewing Password synchronizing Overview - Not sure if I understand correctly, So to achieve goal to remember 5 password, AD --> OKTA should works as 'Delegated Authentication' however I wanted to understand if we opt 'Delegated Authentication' approach, then will we able to synch OKTA password to AD like using Forgot Password in OKTA?

Thanks to Bogdan, I understand your point that Okta will look at AD for the Password History. Is it like while initial load of AD mastered users, OKTA directory will save password in encrypted form or OKTA isn't going to save password at all?
