GregH.00578 (Customer) asked a question.

Users in differnet time zone being forcibly signed out

We have some users in Asia who are mastered by an AD located in the UK.

They report that Okta signs them out between 5 & 7AM UTC every day (mid-day for them).

Why would this happen & how can I remedy the situation?

    Hi Greg,

Thank you for reaching out to the Okta Community.

The issue could be caused by the specific Sign-on Polices that your company has configured and may not in fact have anything to do with the user's Time-Zone but rather their group memberships as the Sign-on Polices could be configured at group level.

Please check under your Okta Admin Dashboard> Security> Authentication> Sign-on. You may have multiple Policies configured, which may have their own session times. Also, please note that the Policies are evaluated in the Order of their Priority, so while a user may be part of multiple groups that may be listed in the list, the Policy that will apply to them would be the one with the highest Priority (defined by the number on the left of the Policy Name).
