exocv (exocv) asked a question.
After years of working with Okta as a partner, i still cant believe there is no wild card search capabilities in the searchfields across of oktas admin console.
finding groups with search queries containing strings of partial group names is just a real headache and needs proper attention.
Why istn this fixed yet, there are several ideas/feature requests... but nothing is done with it..
It cant be that hard, and it actually could change the way admins setup Okta entirely..
please fix this!

Hi HenkJan,
While there are Ideas created for this enhancement, they did not get high enough votes in order for Okta team to integrate it. Only the top ideas will get integrated in Okta
Thank You,

You'd be right if this wasn't thoroughly broken. See my comment below.
Also, hiding behind your (bad) voting system isn't right. I don't see anyone aggregating these requests together. Why isn't this part of a larger item that we can all vote on? It's two years later since you wrote this.
The search is indeed atrocious. It only finds things where I already no know the exact starting letters of a name. Searching for 'AWS' only finds things like: AWS Env 1, AWS Env 2, but not Prod AWS. This doesn't seem like it would need user votes. Anyone seriously using the product - which should include product managers - must find this incredibly frustrating to use. It certainly includes Admins.
Sorry, I'm venting a bit here. This isn't the type of thing that should be a user enhancement. Search just doesn't work - it's a bug that it doesn't search substrings or allow wildcards.
Please raise this as a usability bug or however you categorize bugs that break user expectations and make the product significantly harder to use than it it otherwise meant to be.
Yeah, it's pretty obnoxious trying to find a group. The Search functions for groups is absolutely garbage. I tried to look for "HBJ Calendar View" group today in my Okta. Searched for "Calendar", searched for "View" no results on either... Went back to my conversation (I shouldn't have to do this) to find the information, suddenly it pops right up with "HBJ Calendar View".
I also think it is a major cop-out of Okta to hide behind their voting system when this clearly doesn't work properly. You're telling me you could perfect instant search for apps that can find any part of a word of an app name on the main Okta screen but you can't do the same for Groups in Admin? That's broken.
