AdrianB.90532 (Customer) asked a question.

Okta using Windows Push Notification Services?

Hey folks,

In our firewall logs we're seeing our Windows servers running the Okta AD Agents initiating Windows Push Notification Services (WNS) traffic. I would like to know if this is Okta related or something else on the box (perhaps something installed in our SOE). Seems to trigger when I log onto the Okta web UI from one of the servers.

Thanks,

Adrian

    Hello Adrian,

Okta does not use WNS to trigger any pushes. The WNS service is responsible for processing and showing the notifications in the windows task bar. This may be caused however, if you are using Google Authentication on desktops as these notifications will be processed and displayed in the notification tab in the start bar if enabled and configured.

If you wish to further look into this and discuss, please feel free to open a ticket with support.

    Many Thanks,

    Dan
