Update Email Address

Sometimes, when a user changes his name, we need to change the email address. After every Edit of the email address, from the list of apps assigned, it will came back to the first page as it is showing only 25 apps per page, even if the app for which are doing the update is from the third page for example. So we need to click on "Show more", scroll down the list, then "Show more" again and so on. Is it possible to have the cursor on the same page the update is made so we do not have to scroll down that many times? Or better, is it possible that the email address is updated automatically after the user logs in for the first time with the new email address?

If a user has a name changed, I have always found that changing it in the Profile master, then it replicates to the other apps that you have assigned. I have Workday as a master and change the name there, and then it changes in the 20+ apps that I have assigned to that user, it makes it easier than individually change them and then you don't have to deal with the show more option.

Thank you Lucas for your answer, but as the user profile is Active Directory Mastered, it cannot be edited. Do you have any other ideas ?

  • Hi Bianca,

There is no way to keep the list of apps in the same position as it will reset after you edit an assignment. You can use the search option in the top right of the list to find the application you are looking for without having to scroll down and click on "Show more".

As for the second question, if the application doesn't support provisioning you need to update the email address in the user assignment manually if you are using it for the username. Another option would be to reassign the user in that application.

If the application supports provisioning and you have it enabled, then you just have to make sure the mappings from Okta to the app for the email address/username are set on "Create and update" so Okta will push the change to the application when the user profile is modified.
