Name Change
We have a few users that need to have their names and login info updated. Currently, I've just changed the display names in AD and created email address in AD. I wanted to double check if updating the email address and username in AD would be detected by Okta. If not, would it be better to create new accounts or would we just need to update the attributes in Okta manually. Either way, I'd just like to make sure that there is minial downtime when switching the users over to their new names.

    Hi Aman,

If your AD agent has a default configuration, any changes made in AD will be imported into Okta. Assuming the AD agent has the import schedule enabled, you might find the email changes that you’ve made already in Okta. So in short, email and UPN changes made in AD will appear in Okta at the next import.

    Hope that helps

What about the apps? UPN and email update on the users okta account but the username being passed to the applications is still the old one - how do we get all apps to update to match the new username?

For minimal downtime, update the email/username on AD then you can disconnect the Okta user profile from AD and update the username/email then do full import afterwards. After full import, the user profile is converted back to AD-link profile. This method will also retain the apps and password!
