User Account Verification
Hello,

Our business has a need to verify that an AD account is still active by sending a verification link to our users every 45 days. If the user does not click this link, the system flags their account as inactive and the account is disabled in AD.

Has anybody found a way to do something similar within Okta?

    Hi Tristan,

I assume the use case for this would be to free up licensing. While there is no readily available solution that is identical to your current workflow, we are continually hoping to improve our product, so perhaps you would like to submit your idea for a future release. The best method for getting our Program Managers’ attention is to submit a feature request to the community site. Once ideas are submitted, they are visible to other Okta admins, who can vote on them to provide more visibility and allow you to monitor the potential for future enhancements.

    To Create a Feature Request:
    1. Login to the Admin console for your org
    2. Scroll to the bottom of any page within the console and click “Feedback”
    3. Enter your Okta tenant name and click "Go" (if necessary)
    4. Sign in and search the Ideas page for existing feature requests to upvote, or click “Post Idea” to submit your own
    5. Encourage the other admins in your org to upvote the idea as well
If you'd like to discuss current options for reporting dormant accounts in Okta, feel free to submit a ticket to Support. There are ways to leverage both the API and the Sys Logs to monitor activity and match that up with active user accounts. The only missing piece would be the email with a link, but it may be possible to mitigate that by modifying one of the custom email templates.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for your reply, Justin.

Our use case actually has nothing to do with licensing but of security and compliance. The majority of our users do not belong to our organization, and the organizations that they belong to do not always do a great job of letting us know when their employees leave or change positions. Therefore, we have this system in place so that the end user must validate that they are still an active user within their company. This ensures that an employee who left months ago (which we did not know about) cannot still log into our systems.

I will submit a feature request.

    Thanks again!
