It's not something you can view from the administration console. Best bet is to find this information out from support. You'll need to provide your Okta Org name for us to determine which cell you're on.

I guess, although then including that information on the trust page isn't all that helpful since nobody knows if the problem affects them.  Thanks for the information.  I'm guessing I'm in CELL 2 since we had many users unable to access their email on O365 this morning.

We are planning to use Okta externally (for our customers) and plan to use a hub and spoke architecture, so we will have many Okta Orgs. Is there a programmatic way to determine the CELL for each of our Okta Orgs?

It is displayed on the Open a Case form at https://support.okta.com/help/s/opencase .

In the "Okta Org" picklist it lists your available Okta Org[s] with their corresponding Cell[s] next to them.

I found this as I was opening a Case for myself, trying to determine which Cell our Okta org was on.

Your solution works great if there's a human logging in to enter a Support ticket. I am looking for a way to access that information through Okta's API's. Do you know of a way to access the Okta CELL for an Org through the Okta API's?

  • kn7m6 (kn7m6)

@Jessica Williams Hi Jessica, I don't see any way to view the Cell through the API. Searching for "cell" at https://developer.okta.com/search/ only returns 5 results as of this writing, none of which are relevant to retrieving the Cell via the API. Good luck on your quest to find a workable solution.

Our experience (we use hub/spoke) is that all orgs are by default created in the same cell, unless you have requested a specific cell for an org. BTW, this doesn't answer the API question but you can see your org's cell on the admin site - in the footer.
