Word/Excel can't open docs on SharePoint 2016
When I use Word or Excel (both 2013 and 2016 on Windows) to open an MS Office file on the SharePoint 2016 on-prem environment I have set up, it prompts me to do MFA, which succeeds, but then the small pop up just leaves me at the SharePoint home page, instead of going away and opening the file. If I dismiss the pop-up, Word/Excel still doesn't open the document.

So, I can't open any SharePoint documents using the Microsoft Office desktop application, which can normally talk to SharePoint just fine.

The following registry setting worked for me. But it has to be done on every client machine.

    1. HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity

    2. Check if EnableADAL key is present

    3. If not present then create new REG_DWORD key with name EnableADAL and value 0
