How to Manage an API and the Applications that Connect to it

Hello,

I am developing a standalone API that is to be used with various applications, some with user interfaces and some without, and I am not sure how to configure that API in the okta dashboard as an application (webapp, native, etc.). Should I configure the applications that use the API within the okta dashboard as well? Ideally I would like to provide a refresh token without going through the authorization flow for the clients of this API that don't require user input so that they can make calls as they need it but other applications that do require user input should go through the typical authorization flow.

Any guidance on the matter would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
