Why can't I assign the Office 365 App to a user in Okta

When I go to assign the Office 365 App to a particular user, both the Username and Immutable ID fields are blank.  Under Tasks in Okta, I get the following message for the user:

App could not be assigned automatically.

is an invalid value for userName field (code blank).

I filled out the Username field and selected the user before hitting "Retry Selected" but it fails with the same error message.

    Hello Daniel,

From the sounds of the error, you may want to verify your attribute mappings for the Okta to Office 365 application. By default, the username is set by Office 365, so it may be necessary to override the mapping with the correct username from Okta. Here are the steps to verfiy and change the userName field mapping:

    From the Okta admin console:

    Go to Directory>Profile Editor

Find the Office 365 app in the list and click the Mappings button.

At the top of the page, click the Okta to Microsoft Office 365 option

You should be able to see the username field mapping to determine whether the username is coming from Office 365 or has a custom mapping.

If you are still having issues, you can also try and unassign the user from the application and reassign them, but beyond that you may want to contact support and open a ticket to have a support engineer take a look at your configuration.
