External access to Microsoft teams handled by Okta?
Hi All,

Is it possible to handle external access to Microsoft Teams through Okta?

By default when inviting an external user (e.g. john.invited@gmail.com) to a Microsoft Teams, this user creates a Microsoft account (e.g. with email john.invited@gmail.com) or uses an existing Microsoft account and afterwards a guest account is created in our Azure AD.

Would it be possible to create an Okta account instead of a Microsoft account and add this Okta account as a guest account to Azure AD? Or is there another elegant solution to handle external Office 365 users in Okta?

Thanks for the feedback!

Kind Regards,

Luc

  • Hi,

The O365 integration in Okta offers you access to Microsoft Teams.  If you check the option for Teams in the O365 application General Tab, the end users will receive the icon in their dashboard and will be able to login and use the service if they have an O365 account. For more details about the O365 deployment, please review the link below on how to setup WS-fed and provisioning for Okta users to O365 (Microsoft teams)

Fabian, You link does not seem to be working. Is there more information that can be shared?
