Christina.J

Today is National IT Professionals Day, a time to celebrate the unsung heroes who keep our digital worlds secure, connected, and running smoothly. Behind every seamless login, secure integration, and automated workflow is a dedicated IT administrator working hard to bridge technical capabilities with real-world business needs.

To mark the occasion, hear directly from members of our community and the experts driving identity management forward every day.

The Voice of Our Community Members

Cândido Pereira (Okta Administrator at Talkdesk): Scaling Efficiency Through Workflows and Community Engagement

Cândido transitioned from a Junior Systems Administrator to managing a complex identity environment spanning Workforce, FedRAMP, and Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM). Here is what Cândido had to say about building trust with leadership and tapping into community wisdom:

On how Okta certifications build organizational trust:

"Beyond gaining technical knowledge, these certifications allow me to solidify and demonstrate my expertise to colleagues and leadership, providing a clear benchmark for those who may not be involved in my day-to-day tasks. It has built a high level of trust in my work, confirming that our IAM environment is following the best practices established by Okta."

On the power of peer-to-peer problem solving:

"My main advice is to dive deep into the Okta Community and, above all, never hesitate to post your questions. It is an incredibly supportive environment where members help each other with everything from minor troubleshooting to complex architectural challenges... Often, a problem you are facing has already been solved by someone else, and that shared knowledge is what makes the community so powerful."

Vidyaa Ganesh (Lead Consultant IGA at Cyderes): Bridging Identity Management with Meaningful Governance

With over six years of hands-on experience in Identity and Access Management, Vidyaa focuses on taking clients beyond basic SSO to build sustainable, audit-ready governance structures. Here’s Vidyaa’s take on the real-world value of community knowledge:

On closing the gap between basic identity and governance:

"The pattern I see repeatedly is organizations that have implemented SSO and basic lifecycle management but haven't connected that identity layer to a meaningful governance program. They know who their users are, but they can't answer the harder questions: who has access to what, is that access appropriate, and how do we prove it to an auditor? That gap between identity management and identity governance is the problem I find most interesting to solve."

On why community insights is her one-stop shop:

"What I value most is the practitioner-to-practitioner knowledge sharing. Documentation tells you what a feature does. The community tells you what actually happens when you implement it in a messy enterprise environment, and that's where the real learning happens."

Patrick Duong (Sr. IT Systems Engineer at Lyra Health) : Turning Certification Into Enterprise Impact

Patrick manages multiple Okta environments powering rapid scale at Lyra Health. Here is what Patrick shared about how getting certified changed his workflow and mindset:

On gaining workplace confidence:

"The biggest shift was a massive surge in confidence. As both the company and our IT team expanded, I stopped second-guessing myself or constantly digging for external resources. Getting certified eliminated that 'stuck' feeling. Now, I navigate Okta with ease, which has drastically improved my daily efficiency."

Thank You to Our IT Professionals

To Cândido, Vidyaa, Patrick, and every IT professional working tirelessly behind the scenes: thank you! Your expertise, curiosity, and willingness to share knowledge with peers are what make the Okta Community so strong.
