Okta Community Member Spotlight: Harry Lambert
Christina.J

Hi Okta Community! I’m excited to share our latest Member Spotlight. This series aims to highlight stand-out individuals within the Okta Community. Today, let’s dive into Harry Lambert’s journey with Okta, the power of community, and the importance of continuous learning.

Can you share a bit about yourself? Your role, company, and what your typical day looks like?

With nearly a decade of hands-on Okta implementation experience, I specialize in assessing where IAM programs are on their Identity Maturity Model journey and guiding them toward strategically using the Okta platform, which ultimately led to my certification as an Okta Certified Technical Architect. My role currently is as the Director of Solutions at Anthropic Identity, where I translate complex identity needs into clear, actionable strategies that drive meaningful outcomes.

My typical day is usually meeting with new or current Okta clients to understand their goals, challenges, and how they’d like to leverage our expertise and skills to help them in their identity journey. My favorite part of the job is solving complex scenarios and use cases that are unique to each of these clients. I really enjoy seeing the lightbulb moments when the solutions can help!

One thing I like about my role at Anthropic Identity is the ability to focus deeply on emerging aspects of Okta/Auth0 – Fine-Grained Authorization, advanced Universal Login use cases, and custom CIAM flows. While we have extensive experience with the core Okta platform – including experience with complex identity governance, lifecycle management, legacy application modernization – our deep focus in CIAM is our core differentiator. The name “Anthropic Identity” comes from the human-centric approach to identity for both workforce and CIAM – one that balances the emerging Agentic Identity framework with a focus on user experience and accessibility. We’re a new company, but it’s been a lot of fun being a part of something growing very rapidly. I live in Atlanta, where we have several members of the team, but we are distributed throughout the US.

Can you tell us about your journey with Okta? What organizational challenges are you trying to solve with Okta?

Nearly a decade ago, I implemented Okta for a major telecommunications provider to power customer identity. That project pushed the platform’s limits and sparked my career—I moved into Okta consulting and never looked back. Since then, I’ve led delivery teams and completed 200+ implementations across industries, learning what works in the real world and how to design for scale, security, and great user experiences.

Inside our own organization, we rely on Okta to manage devices, applications, and users. It helps us streamline access, protect our workforce and data, and provision only what’s necessary.

I began pursuing Okta certifications in 2021 and, in 2023, became the 20th Okta Certified Technical Architect (OCTA). I’m a strong advocate for the certification program—it played a major role in advancing my career and the outcomes I deliver for clients.

Let’s switch gears and talk about the Oka Community. How did you first learn about the Oka Community? What do you enjoy the most about it?

I’ve always appreciated learning through collaboration. The Okta community is a great place to share ideas, solutions, and thoughts. It’s also a great place to ask questions and I enjoy being active in those discussions. I believe the best way to learn is together, and enjoy connecting with other people that are passionate about Okta! I enjoy seeing familiar names and faces in the community and providing certain tips and tricks and seeing it “click” for my peers.

Any advice you'd give to fellow IT admins utilizing Okta's solutions, especially those just starting out?

There’s a laundry list of technical tips and tricks I could provide but I’d say the biggest one is to always stay on your toes! Okta has evolved significantly in a short amount of time, so you have to keep up on the latest capabilities and release notes (posted in the community) so you know what is coming and available!

Awesome, great advice! Last question- outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Outside of work I like to do anything outdoors. Spend time up in the mountains or at the beach. I like to go golfing, camping, biking, or go and catch some live music!

Thank you for sharing your professional and personal journey with us, Harry. We are grateful for your contributions, continued support, and passion for Okta!
