Now Available: Okta Identity Governance Trial
Sam Katzen

Since its global launch in December of 2022, we’ve heard from a large number of customers asking about Okta Identity Governance (OIG) and its easy-to-implement, simple-to-use governance capabilities. Today we’re making it easier for all of you to get their hands dirty with OIG through a new trial of OIG any workforce customer can request.

As a refresher, Okta Identity Governance brings three new governance capabilities to the Workforce Identity Cloud:

  • Okta Access Requests: Simplify and automate the process of requesting and approving access to applications and resources. Meet users where they are through self-service capabilities tightly integrated with popular collaboration tools to deliver a streamlined, frictionless experience.
  • Okta Access Certifications: Create and manage access review campaigns. Periodically review user access to critical resources, and approve or revoke access automatically to ensure that all users have the right level of access across all resources.
  • Enhanced Governance Reports: Help meet audit and compliance requirements with out-of-the-box reporting capabilities. Administrators can provide an audit report of who has access to what resources, who approved the access, and how they got it.

These three core capabilities work in conjunction with existing Okta products like Lifecycle Management and Workflows to provide an identity governance bundle for organizations of all sizes. The bundle is part of OIG’s broader tight integration to Okta’s existing identity and access management capabilities, and it’s a big part of what makes OIG so compelling for existing and new Okta customers.

Up until now, OIG has been available in preview environments for customers to test out, which is useful for getting used to the functionality and the tools. With this new trial version of OIG, Okta customers have the ability to implement OIG in your production environments to see how user experience and IT efficiency translates directly to your use cases. Start test driving OIG by building simple access requests, access certification campaigns, and reports tied to actual users and resources in your environments.

To help get customers started, the OIG Product Hub has a complete Getting Started guide, along with Okta Help Center content for access requests and access certifications. Some helpful knowledge base articles can also be found on the Product Hub.

Customers will be able to access a banner along the top of their admin consoles providing the length of time left in the trial (image below).

Any Okta customer who wants to use the free trial should reach out to their account representative to have the capabilities turned on.
