Written by Christiana Franson, VP Platform & Industries, Okta

That’s a wrap for Oktane 2023, the Identity event of the year! Innovation is a core value at Okta, and we wanted to make sure you don’t miss these major product announcements from Oktane 2023.

In addition to the big news around Okta AI, our latest batch of product releases enables you to provide strong, secure experiences —with flexibility and without compromising usability. From Identity Threat Protection to Highly Regulated Identity, Okta powers smarter security that factors in behaviors, devices and shared signals to deliver convenient, intuitive experiences that users expect.

Introducing Okta AI

Okta AI transforms the Identity experience, removing administrative burdens, delivering great user experiences, all while protecting against sophisticated security attacks. Pulling in data from our massive integration ecosystem, in addition to logs and telemetry, Okta AI powers real-time actions— for security, for developers and for policies and authorization.

Within the Okta Customer Identity Cloud, powered by Auth0, we introduced a number of exciting capabilities to reduce risk and increase efficiency. For example, Tenant Security Manager with Okta AI provides AI-driven security recommendations within Attack Protection. And to get a little more from your acquisition funnel, Identity Flow Optimizer with Okta AI will analyze your tenant’s authentication data and deliver suggestions on improving the customer experience, sign-up flow and more.

The Okta Workforce Identity Cloud will include a number of AI features to help you know which new standards to meet and which best practices you can leverage to be more efficient and secure. For example, Policy Recommender with Okta AI empowers admins with AI-driven insights and policy recommendations based on best security practices and anonymized intelligence across Okta’s customers. Next, we are taking Okta Identity Governance to the next level with the introduction of Governance Analyzer with Okta AI which will predict access risk and provide reviewers with insight to inform better decision making that secures governance outcomes.

With unparalleled access to data across our ecosystem, Okta AI can deliver meaningful insights and actions for your business through both the Workforce Identity Cloud and Customer Identity Clouds. Learn more about Okta’s CEO Todd McKinnon’s perspective on the future of Identity with AI.

Beyond Login: What’s new with the Customer Identity Cloud

As organizations embrace digital transformation to thrive in this new economic environment, differentiation hinges on delivering exceptional digital user experiences. You need customer identity that goes beyond login. The world is getting more complex and while the login box is the first touchpoint to all things digital, companies must look beyond login to truly know, protect, and delight their customers.

What if you could let your users never have to remember any credentials again? That’s why we are so excited to introduce Passkeys on the Customer Identity Cloud. Passkeys provide a phishing-resistant sign-up, and sign-in experience for your consumers, giving them a secure and convenient alternative to passwords.

Developing secure and seamless digital app experiences is even more challenging in highly regulated industries such as financial services and healthcare. Organizations are battling elevated threats, fraud, and regulatory demands while trying to keep pace with increasing consumer expectations around frictionless digital experiences. Generally available next year, Highly Regulated Identity elevates security, privacy, and user experience controls for your most sensitive customer transactions and scenarios.

Beyond MFA: What’s new with the Workforce Identity Cloud

Securing an evolving threat landscape is harder than ever — complicated by the challenge of having to do more with less, AI-driven attacks and the increasing complexity of technology stacks. Identity is the only piece of technology that is integrated across an entire technology stack and it must be reimagined to protect your business — it must go beyond MFA.

Okta Identity Threat Protection, available early next year, takes the power of machine learning and Okta’s powerful ecosystem to detect a wide range of threats, proactively protect your users and automatically take rapid action. Paired with Okta Workflows and native actions, Okta amplifies your security posture, enabling dynamic responses without disrupting the user experience.
