Introducing Okta Devices Access

As your organization increasingly shifts from a focus on digital transformation to a focus on building a sustainable modern, digital business, it is critical that you have a strong security posture and an agile workforce that can easily and securely access devices and resources.

At Okta, we view the process of signing into a computer as simply another event that can be addressed by a unified identity and access management solution. Which is why we are excited to be introducing Okta Device Access!

How Okta Device Access can help you

The goal with Okta Device Access is to provide unified access management, from any device to all applications, to minimize modern security risks and improve business efficiency. Eventually, we are looking to deliver a user experience that will allow you to turn on your computer, sign in with your Okta credentials, and then—with that one sign-in—have access to everything: your device account and all your apps and resources. Today, we are making steps towards delivering on this goal by introducing several critical new capabilities in Desktop MFA and Desktop Password Sync.

What you can expect

We are still hard at work building out this new solution, but as of today you can find the following capabilities:

  • Desktop MFA: Integrated step-up authentication for devices with both online and offline support.
    • Support for Windows is available today for Limited Early Access and will soon be open for self-service Early Access (estimated for early August)
    • Support for macOS will be available soon for self-service Early Access
  • Desktop Password Sync: Mac password synchronization with Okta (based on Apple’s Platform SSO extension) and automatic FastPass enrollment for passwordless access to any Okta-protected app.
    • Available soon for self-service Early Access (estimated for early August)
