Workflows ServiceNow Connector Setup Error "DNS Error: 500 - Network Error: Failed to Resolve Host"
Workflows
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

In Workflows Console, when trying to setup or reauthorize a ServiceNow Connector, the following error is received after attempting to Create the connection:

error trying to connect: dns error: 500 - Network Error: Failed to resolve host

ServiceNow 500 DNS Error

Applies To
  • Workflows
  • ServiceNow Connector
Cause

This is often caused by an incorrect value being entered in the Instance field when setting up the ServiceNow Connector - aside from a mistype, this occurs if more than just the subdomain for the instance is entered.

This will also occur when attempting to connect to ServiceNow GovCommunityCloud instances of ServiceNow with a domain of servicenowservices.com. The Workflows ServiceNow connector currently does not support connecting to ServiceNow GovCommunityCloud.

Solution

On the ServiceNow Connector setup, in the Instance field, only enter the subdomain value from the ServiceNow Instance.
