Workday Hire Date Pushed Back Beyond Pre-Start Interval Deactivates the User

Lifecycle Management
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

Pushing back a new Worker's hire date beyond the pre-start interval value will deactivate the user when an import runs.

Applies To

  • User lifecycle management
  • Workday

Cause

Setting a value for the hire date in Workday that is greater than the Pre-start interval value in Okta.

Solution

As per this Okta Workday Integration documentation, this is an expected behavior:

For example, if the Pre-Start Interval in Okta is set to 7 days, and the PreHire Date of a Workday account is set to 7 days before the Worker/Employee Date, Okta imports the account. In this same scenario, if the PreHire Date is greater than the 7 day interval configured in Okta, Okta does not consider it for import until the beginning of the window defined by the Pre-Start Interval.
