Why Does System Log Show Admin Username as Actor Instead of Okta System (SystemPrincipal) for Successful Jobs
Last Updated:
Overview
This article clarifies why the System log shows an Admin's username as the actor instead of "Okta System (SystemPrincipal)" for some successful jobs.
Applies To
- Okta Administration
- System Log
- Group Rules
Solution
When a user activates a group rule, it evaluates the group rule. All changes made as part of that evaluation, such as adding a user to membership in a group, reflect the user who activated the group rule as the actor.
Once a group rule is already active, if a change is made that causes the group rule to be evaluated, such as updating a profile attribute, then corresponding changes made as part of that evaluation reflect the "Okta System (SystemPrincipal)" as the actor.
