Users on macOS Unable to Access Google Drive File Stream with Okta Verify Passwordless SSO
Last Updated:
Overview
This article describes an issue where users on macOS devices cannot access the Google Drive File Stream application. This problem occurs when Okta Verify Single Sign-On (SSO) is implemented, and the application is protected by an Okta authentication policy configured for passwordless access.
Applies To
- Okta Verify
- Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Okta Authentication Policies
- Google Drive File Stream
- macOS
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
Cause
Users cannot access the Google Drive File Stream application on macOS when using Okta Verify single sign-on (SSO) if the application is governed by an Okta authentication policy that permits or requires passwordless access. The standard SSO flow within the application fails under these conditions.
Solution
When the initial Okta Verify SSO attempt fails within the Google Drive File Stream application, select the Sign in with your browser instead option.
