"UNEXPECTED_ERROR" or "Invalid admin credentials" Error when Authenticating Office 365 Admin Username/Password

The below errors can be seen when attempting to authenticate or re-authenticating Office 365 (O365) Admin Username/Password:

Invalid admin credentials

UNEXPECTED_ERROR 

• Microsoft Office 365

• Invalid username or password.
• Advanced API Access is not enabled.
• Advanced API Access needs to be re-authenticated.

1. Invalid username or password:
   • Make sure that the username and password are correct. Sometimes, copying the values may capture invalid characters. Try to enter the credentials manually.

2. Advanced API Access is not enabled:
   • Enable the Advanced API Access option.
     1. This configuration can be found in the Okta O365 app > Sign On > Settings > Edit > API CREDENTIALS > Advanced API Access.
     2. Once the Advanced API Access option is enabled, click the Authenticate with Microsoft Account and authenticate using Microsoft Global Administrator credentials.

3. Advanced API Access needs to be re-authenticated:
   • If the Advanced API Access option is already enabled, it may need to be re-authenticated.
     1. To re-authenticate, navigate to Okta O365 app > Sign On > Settings > Edit > API CREDENTIALS > Advanced API Access.
     2. Click Re-authenticate with Microsoft Account and authenticate using Microsoft Global Administrator credentials.
