"UNEXPECTED_ERROR" or "Invalid admin credentials" Error when Authenticating Office 365 Admin Username/Password

Overview
The below errors can be seen when attempting to authenticate or re-authenticating Office 365 (O365) Admin Username/Password:
Invalid admin credentials
UNEXPECTED_ERROR
Applies To

Cause
- Invalid username or password.
- Advanced API Access is not enabled.
- Advanced API Access needs to be re-authenticated.
Solution
- Invalid username or password:
- Make sure that the username and password are correct. Sometimes, copying the values may capture invalid characters. Try to enter the credentials manually.
- Advanced API Access is not enabled:
- Enable the Advanced API Access option.
- This configuration can be found in the Okta O365 app > Sign On > Settings > Edit > API CREDENTIALS > Advanced API Access.
- Once the Advanced API Access option is enabled, click the Authenticate with Microsoft Account and authenticate using Microsoft Global Administrator credentials.
- Enable the Advanced API Access option.
- Advanced API Access needs to be re-authenticated:
- If the Advanced API Access option is already enabled, it may need to be re-authenticated.
- To re-authenticate, navigate to Okta O365 app > Sign On > Settings > Edit > API CREDENTIALS > Advanced API Access.
- Click Re-authenticate with Microsoft Account and authenticate using Microsoft Global Administrator credentials.
- If the Advanced API Access option is already enabled, it may need to be re-authenticated.
