This article describes the behavior and root cause of the error below that occurs after inputting a custom domain instead of the Okta subdomain during AD Agent installation:

The specified URL does not target any valid Okta domain.

When installing the Okta AD Agent, Admins will be prompted to "Enter your Okta customer domain to register this AD Agent with Okta."

If any other URL is input, such as a custom domain that redirects or forwards to the Okta Org, regardless of whether the custom domain is configured for the Org, the error message mentioned above will appear.

To resolve this, use the Okta Org subdomain chosen during the Org's creation. For example:

• https://<subdomain>.oktapreview.com
• https://<subdomain>.okta-emea.com
• https://<subdomain>.okta-gov.com
