Overview
Okta Org configuration supports multiple Profile Sources, allowing an Okta user to originate from any of them.
This article details the relationship between profile source priority and an Okta user's Universal Directory profile.

Solution
A Profile Source is an application or directory integration that acts as a source of truth for the Okta user profile.
- A user may only have one profile source. That means a user may be sourced by a single application or directory at a time, regardless of the number of profile source applications that are assigned to the user.
- Apart from the user's profile source, a user's attributes may be sourced by an application or directory other than the Okta user's profile source. User attributes may also be sourced by Okta. This is known as attribute-level sourcing.
- If a user is assigned to multiple profile sources, the user's profile source is generally determined by the profile source priority.
To view Profile Sources, navigate to Admin > Directories > Profile Sources.
