Supported Operating Systems with End of Life Dates for Okta ASA / Okta OPA

Advanced Server Access
Privileged Access
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

Okta Advanced Server Access (ASA) and Okta Privileged Access (OPA) support a defined set of operating system platforms, each with published dates after which Okta stops providing improvements and security fixes. Okta continues to provide improvements until the "Actively Supported" date and security updates until the "End of Life" date. When those dates are the same, both updates and security fixes cease on the same date. Reviewing the supported platforms table and the availability policy resolves uncertainty about which platform versions remain eligible for updates.

Applies To

  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Privileged Access (OPA)
  • Advanced Server Access (ASA)
  • Supported Operating Systems

Solution

What Is the Availability Policy for OPA and ASA Releases?

The availability policy for Okta Privileged Access (OPA) and Advanced Server Access (ASA) releases is governed by the following interconnected rules:

  • A release remains available for at least one year, regardless of other factors.
  • At a minimum, the last three minor versions are always available for download.
  • If the oldest available minor version is greater than one year old, only its most recent patch version remains available.
  • Every release between the minimum supported version and the maximum supported version remains available.

In general, there is always a version at least one year old available to download.

The following example illustrates how these rules interact:

  • In March 2023, version 1.1.1 is released and will remain the earliest available version until March 2024, regardless of how many other releases are available.
  • Releases 1.2.1, 1.3.1, and 1.4.1 are released in April 2023, May 2023, and June 2023.
  • At the end of April 2024, 1.1.1 will remain the earliest available version, as there are not at least three minor versions that are over one year old.
  • At the end of May 2024, 1.1.1 will remain the earliest version, as there are only three minor versions over one year old.
  • At the end of June 2024, 1.2.1 will become the earliest available version, as there are three minor versions, and 1.2.1 is at least a year old.
  • If in April 2023, the versions 1.2.2, 1.2.3, and 1.2.4 are released, then at the end of June 2024, 1.2.4 would become the earliest available version.
