Overview
An error message indicating that an Okta Identity Engine (OIE) upgrade is required occurs when an administrator attempts to add the Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM) data connector through the standard App Integration Catalog. Okta ISPM fully supports both Okta Identity Engine (OIE) and Okta Classic Engine. To resolve this issue, add the integration using the API Service Integrations menu instead.

Cause
This error typically occurs during the initial setup when an administrator mistakenly attempts to add the ISPM data connector through the standard App Integration Catalog.
Solution
How is the ISPM implementation error resolved?
Add the integration via the API Service Integrations menu, then configure the application properties to connect the Okta org to ISPM.
- Sign in to the Okta Admin Console as a super admin.
- Navigate to Applications > API Service Integrations. Do not use the App Integration Catalog.
- Click Add Integration.
- Search for and select Okta ISPM - Data integration, then click Next.
- In the App Properties section, paste the ISPM ID generated from the ISPM console's Sources gallery and select the Production Base URI.
- Click Install & Authorize.
NOTE: Close the dialog asking to copy the client secret, as it is not needed for this application. - From the application's General tab, copy the Client ID and the Okta Domain and paste them back into the ISPM console to finish the setup.
