Slack SCIM Provisioning for Assigning Users to Multi-Channel Guest Role
Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

This article discusses whether Slack integration from the Okta Integration Network (OIN) catalog supports the Multi-Channel Guest Role when building a rule that allows provisioning Multi-Channel guests from Slack with Okta. The POST /Users (Multi-Channel Guests) Slack documentation shows what attributes should be set.

Applies To
  • Provisioning
  • Slack Application
  • Lifecycle Management
  • Okta Integration Network (OIN)
  • API
  • Workflow
Cause

Currently, the Multi-Channel Guest User Schema is not supported when integrating Slack from the OIN catalog.

Solution

The option to provision users as multi-channel guests is not available in Okta at this time. When using the Slack app from the app catalog, attributes cannot be added to the Slack profile editor in the user Interface, but they can be added via the API. Please see Slack-supported features.

A feature request has already been created for this. Upvote for this feature in Okta Ideas, so this could be available in the future: Okta Ideas Overview & FAQ. This page is closely monitored by Engineering and used to filter and consider ideas for future implementation.

An alternative way to implement this could be using Workflows to provision the users to Slack: Okta Workflows.
