Setting a static, custom temporary password for new hires is not possible through the native Okta System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) application configuration interface. Passwords are protected credential objects rather than standard profile text fields. Okta Workflows automates custom password assignments while ensuring an immediate password reset is required upon the first login.

Solution
How is a custom temporary password set for new hires?
A static, custom temporary password cannot be set strictly through the native Okta SCIM application configuration interface. Passwords are not standard attributes in the Okta backend. A password is a protected credential object rather than a standard profile text field, such as Department or Title.
To achieve this functionality, utilize Okta Workflows. Okta Workflows automates the custom password assignment while guaranteeing the user is forced to reset the password immediately upon the first login.
