The Self-service feature is a workflow through which users can Request Access to Okta app integrations or add personal app integrations to their End-User Dashboard. The process provides Single Sign-On (SSO) access to the associated external applications.
This setting can be found in the Applications tab under Assignments.
When attempting to edit the Self Service section and enable the option of "Allow users to request app" without admin approval for an application with provisioning enabled, the following error is received:
Self-assigning is not available for the app with provisioning enabled.
The goal of this knowledge article is to explain this limitation.
- Provisioned App Integration
The Self-Service workflow is designed to grant app access and does not handle provisioning. When provisioning is enabled for an application, auto-approval will not work as there are more steps to be configured (licenses, roles, department, etc.). In addition, some applications require a cost for each additional licensed user; thus, this will require admin approval.
If Admins want Approval to be set to Not Required, provisioning for the app must first be disabled.
