RADIUS Error "OktaAuthException error raised: Invalid Token provided"
Okta Integration Network
Okta Classic Engine
Multi-Factor Authentication
Okta Identity Engine
Overview
This article describes the below error and how can it be resolved:

OktaAuthException error raised: Invalid Token provided.

Applies To
  • RADIUS Agent
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Cause

The error indicates that the token used for the RADIUS Agent integration is not valid. The token that was used to install the agent is no longer valid.

Solution

To generate a new token, uninstall then reinstall the RADIUS Agent, which will generate a new token when it prompts to log in with a super admin to "allow access" again, but after that, it might be needed to re-configure the VPN because the configuration will update based on the values entered the new installation, if the new values (secret key and ports) will match the old ones, it will work fine.

NOTE: When uninstalling the RADIUS, ensure to delete all the files that are left in the OS and then reinstall it. For example, if Okta RADIUS was previously installed, a folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Okta\Okta RADIUS Agent is being created.

Okta RADIUS Agent

Get a backup copy of the config file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Okta\Okta RADIUS Agent\current\user\config\radius\config.properties), delete the Okta RADIUS Agent folder, and then fresh install the Okta RADIUS Agent.

config.properties

Once reinstalled, please note that the ragent.okta.token hash value will be different from a backup copy of the old config.properties file.
