Okta Verify Prompts for Biometrics During Configuration
Last Updated:
Overview
Users configuring the Okta Verify mobile application experience a prompt forcing the use of biometrics. This occurs because the organization configures Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and access policies at the tenant level. Resolve inquiries regarding biometric requirements by contacting the IT administrator or help desk of the organization.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Okta Verify
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Cause
The organization or third-party service provider configures multi-factor authentication and access policies at the tenant level to require biometrics for Okta Verify.
Solution
Why does Okta Verify prompt for biometrics during configuration?
While Okta provides the product platform, including the Okta Verify application, Single Sign-On (SSO), and Identity and Access Management (IAM), the organization or third-party service provider handles individual account management and access policies. The organization configures MFA requirements at the tenant level. If Okta Verify forces biometrics, the administrator of the organization configured the authentication policy to require it. Contact the IT administrator or internal help desk of the organization to discuss access policies or request an exemption.
