Workday real-time sync fails to deactivate a user when the immediate deactivation reasoning is not properly configured, the termination reasons do not match the specified criteria, or the termination date is set in the future.
Perform the following steps to verify the Workday integration settings and ensure correct deactivation processing:
- Go to the Provisioning tab for the Workday application.
- Select the Integration tab.
- Verify that the immediate deactivation reasoning is configured correctly.
- Confirm that the user's termination reasons match the reasons specified in Immediate Termination Reasons.
- Ensure that the termination date is the current date.

- Workday real-time sync follows the same deactivation rules as querying the user in real-time. Refer to the Deactivation section of the Okta Workday Provisioning documentation.
- Users can be deactivated immediately upon sync if the immediate deactivation reason has been configured. Refer to the Immediate deactivation reasons section of the Okta Workday Provisioning documentation.
- Okta processes a termination immediately after receiving an event from Workday. This occurs when the termination reasons match the specified Immediate Termination Reasons, and the termination date is the current date.
