Okta Usage Report Delay for New Users

Administration
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

A new user does not appear immediately after an administrator creates the user and generates an Okta Usage report. This delay occurs while the Okta Usage report uses a new reporting framework. After waiting for the reporting jobs to run, the administrator can view the new user in the report.

Admin Console

Applies To

  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Classic Engine
  • Okta Usage Report
  • New User

Cause

The Okta Usage report uses a new reporting framework, so the report updates only after the reporting jobs run. The time required for those jobs varies with data volume, so a new user does not appear immediately after creation.

Solution

How is the delay in the Okta Usage report addressed?

Review the expected behavior and reporting framework changes to confirm the delay.

  • Reports in the Admin Console reflect an approximate delay of 3-6 hours.
  • This delay is not deterministic because the time required for jobs to run varies with data volume.
  • The CSV file row limit increases from 1 million to 5 million.
  • If a CSV file is generated in approximately three minutes, it downloads immediately from the Admin Console.
  • If a CSV file takes longer than approximately three minutes to generate, Okta sends an email with a secure download link.
