Guide to the Okta Status Page for System Health and Incident Updates
Last Updated:
Overview
The Okta Status page provides real-time information on the health, performance, and availability of Okta Identity Cloud services. Administrators use this page to monitor system status, track ongoing incidents, review scheduled maintenance, and access Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Okta Status Page
Cause
Administrators visit the Okta Status page to investigate the following scenarios:
- Users report login issues, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) failures, or application access errors, requiring verification of a local issue or a broader service disruption.
- Proactive system health checks occur during critical business operations or deployments.
- Scheduled maintenance window reviews ensure upcoming changes do not conflict with internal operational timelines.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents for past incidents provide an understanding of the impact and resolution. Okta provides an RCA for Yellow alerts within 10 business days and Red alerts within five business days.
NOTE: Okta only generates trust posts for Red alerts.
Solution
How do administrators monitor system health and incidents using the Okta Status page?
Navigate the Okta Status page to check current operational status, verify specific cells, review incident history, and subscribe to updates.
- Check the Current Status dashboard to determine if all systems are operational or if an active incident exists. Statuses include Operational, Service Degradation, and Service Disruption.
- Use the cell selector (for example, OK1, OK2, OK12) to filter status updates for a specific Okta organizational instance.
- Access the Past Incidents section to view a timeline of resolved issues, including detailed logs of the investigation, mitigation, and resolution steps.
- Select Subscribe to Updates to receive real-time notifications via email, SMS, or RSS feed whenever an incident is created or updated.
- Download detailed PDF reports for major incidents to review in-depth analyses of the technical details behind a disruption.
