Overview

The Okta Status page serves as the central hub for real-time information on the health, performance, and availability of Okta Identity Cloud services. It is designed to provide transparency into system status, ongoing incidents, and scheduled maintenance, helping administrators stay informed about the operational state of their Okta environment.

Applies To
  • Okta Administrators
  • IT Operations Teams
  • Security Analysts
  • All Okta Cells
  • Core Platform Services
  • Third-Party Integrations
Cause

Administrators typically visit the Okta Status page when:

  • Users report login issues, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) failures, or application access errors, and they need to determine if the issue is local or a broader service disruption.
  • Proactively checking system health during critical business operations or deployments.
  • Reviewing scheduled maintenance windows to ensure upcoming changes do not conflict with internal operational timelines.
  • Seeking Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents for past incidents to understand impact and resolution.
Solution

To effectively use the Okta Status page, administrators can leverage the following features:

  • Check Current Status
    • Immediately view the Current Status dashboard to see if all systems are operational or if there is an active incident. Statuses are categorized (for example, Operational, Service Degradation, Service Disruption).
  • Verify Specific Cells
    • Use the cell selector (for example, OK1, OK2, OK12) to filter status updates relevant only to a specific Okta organizational instance.
  • Review Incident History
    • Access the Past Incidents section to view a timeline of resolved issues, including detailed logs of the investigation, mitigation, and resolution steps.
  • Subscribe to Updates
    • Click the Subscribe to Updates button to receive real-time notifications via email, SMS, or RSS feed whenever an incident is created or updated.
  • Access Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Download detailed PDF reports for major incidents, which provide in-depth analyses of the technical "why" and "how" behind a disruption.
