Okta Single Sign-On Error With LinkedIn Learning License Unavailable
Single Sign-On
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

An error occurs when accessing LinkedIn Learning via Okta Single Sign-On (SSO) because the organization exhausted the license pool or the Just-In-Time (JIT) provisioning license type is unavailable. Resolve this issue by reviewing the license allocation in the LinkedIn Learning admin console or contacting LinkedIn Learning support. When users attempt to access LinkedIn Learning via Okta SSO, LinkedIn Learning generates the following error:

SSO_LOGIN_JIT_PROVISIONING_LICENSE_TYPE_UNAVAILABLE

Applies To
  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Classic Engine
  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
  • LinkedIn Learning
Cause

The error originates from the LinkedIn Learning license management system. It indicates that the JIT provisioning configuration in LinkedIn Learning attempts to assign a license type that is currently unavailable or that the organization exhausted the overall license pool. Even if administrators reactivate user accounts in Okta, licenses might not be automatically reattached or be available on the LinkedIn Learning side.

Solution

How is the LinkedIn Learning license error resolved?

Verify the license allocation and JIT provisioning configuration within the LinkedIn Learning admin console to ensure licenses are available.

  1. Confirm that the affected users have assigned LinkedIn Learning licenses in the LinkedIn admin portal.
  2. Verify that the JIT provisioning configuration in LinkedIn Learning is valid and that the specified license type is available.
  3. Contact LinkedIn Learning support for further assistance if the organization has exhausted the license pool or if the error persists after verifying the configuration.
