Q: Does the Okta product roadmap include all product changes?
A: No. The roadmap provides a summary view of updates, enhancements and new features in Okta, but will not contain every change. For a more detailed change history, please reference the Okta Release Notes.
Q: How should the Okta product roadmap be read?
A: The roadmap can be read across status states, from ‘Planned’, ‘In Progress’, ‘In Release’ and 'Archive'. ‘Planned’ items are on the Product Roadmap, ‘In Progress’ items are actively being worked on, ‘In Release’ items are being made available to eligible customers and 'Archive' items were released as Generally Available longer ago.
Q: What timeframe does the Okta product roadmap represent?
A: The roadmap can generally be interpreted as a six-month forward-looking view, including the last six months of items in ‘Release’ and 'Archive' to various lifecycle states outlined below.
Q: How to see updates for a specific Okta product?
A: The filter checkboxes on the left-hand side of the page can be used to filter by Product. If you are logged in to the Help Center, Products will be filtered to those available to your organization. If you are viewing the roadmap as a guest, all Products are visible by default. Additionally, in the roadmap tabs, each feature’s product association is noted.
Q: How to get notified on updates for a specific Okta product I'm interested in?
A: When you are authenticated to the Okta Support Center, you can opt to "Follow" Okta Product item you are interested in. Following a Product item will ensure you receive email updates as the product changes its lifecycle states. Furthermore, you can filter the products to "Show only items I'm following".
Q: If a feature is on the Okta Product roadmap does that mean I will get it?
A: No. Depending on the Okta products purchased by your organization, you may not see all features. Similarly, some features may be available later in the GA process for entitled customers as outlined below. Finally, this forward-looking product roadmap does not represent any obligation to deliver any product and is only meant to outline general product development plans. Please refer to the full Forward Looking Statement for more information.
Q: What do Beta, EA and GA mean?
As part of our release process, features pass through several lifecycle states, including Beta, Early Access (EA) and General Availability (GA):
- Beta features are typically used to validate features with a small subset of customers with limited documentation and support in non-production environments. To sign up for an open Beta program, visit the Beta Signup page.
- Early Access (EA) features are new or enhanced functionality made available for customers to selectively “opt-in” to and use in Production and non-production organizations with production-level quality and support.
- General Availability (GA) features are new or enhanced functionality that is enabled for all eligible customers. Some GA features may follow a specific release process, and not all organizations may immediately receive GA features as they are released.
In sum, features can be released to each lifecycle state across the Okta service but may not always go through all states. For more information and detailed definitions of lifecycle states, please refer to the Okta Release Lifecycle.
Q: When something is "In Release", when will I see it in my Okta Organization?
A: Generally, if a feature is ‘In Release’ it varies in availability depending on its feature lifecycle state:
- In the Beta state, the feature can be available as soon as one week in Preview organizations.
- In the EA state, the feature can be available in Preview and Production organizations as soon as one week. The feature may stay in EA for as little as one month or as determined by Okta.
- In GA, a feature must be in Preview for one month before it is available to Production organizations.
- If your organization has not purchased a specific Okta product, you will not see said feature as outlined above.
- For detailed release tracking, please reference the Okta Release Notes.
Q: How to give feedback on the Okta Product roadmap?
