Overview
When connecting to Windows servers over Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), a new warning is shown:
Caution: Unknown remote connection
Applies To
- Okta Privileged Access (OPA)
- Advanced Server Access (ASA)
- Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
Cause
This is a new warning that Microsoft has added through the April 2026 security patch.
Solution
A specific Remote Desktop Service registry value needs to be updated on the server to suppress the warning.
