Okta Mobile End of Life
Okta Classic Engine
Devices and Mobility
Overview

Okta will End of Life Okta Mobile and Okta Mobile Device Trust on May 31, 2026. Okta previously announced the End of Support for Okta Mobile on June 6, 2025, with an effective date of November 1, 2025.

  • The application will receive no further security updates, bug fixes, or support.
  • Functionality on currently downloaded devices may break or be removed at any time.
  • Your end users will no longer be able to rely on Okta Mobile for one-click access to their applications.
  • Device Trust via Okta Mobile will no longer work.

This decision reflects a focus on future innovation and improving the user experience within the Okta Identity Engine (OIE), including continued enhancements to Okta Verify. The usage of the Okta Mobile app has declined significantly, and focusing our resources on OIE improvements will best serve our customers going forward.

Applies To
  • Okta Classic
  • Okta Mobile
  • Secure Web Authentication (SWA) Applications
Solution

Customers using Okta Mobile, especially those using Secure Web Authentication (SWA), are encouraged to migrate to Okta Identity Engine (OIE) and Okta Verify, transition to SAML/OIDC, or use an enterprise password manager like Cerby to avoid disruption.

To minimize disruption, we are providing this 6-month advance notice until May 31, 2026. During this time, we recommend affected customers implement one of the following options:

If you are on Classic and use Okta Mobile:

  • For non-SWA applications

    • Migrate to OIE: Leverage the “Open Dashboard” feature within the Okta Verify app to access the user dashboard in the mobile browser.
    • Stay on Classic: Train users to access the Okta dashboard via the mobile browser.
    • SAML/OIDC Migration: Convert applications currently using Secure Web Authentication (SWA) to SAML or OIDC where possible.
  • For SWA applications

    • Migrate to OIE: Leverage the “Open Dashboard” feature within the Okta Verify app to access the user dashboard in the mobile browser. This will require the end user to go through a copy-paste flow to enter their credentials. Note: this will not work for admin-managed credentials.
    • Stay on Classic: Train users to access the Okta dashboard via the mobile browser. This will require the end user to go through a copy-paste flow and Okta password entry to enter their credentials. Note: this will not work for admin-managed credentials.
    • SAML/OIDC Migration: Convert applications currently using Secure Web Authentication (SWA) to SAML or OIDC where possible.
    • Enterprise Password Manager: For customers with complex mobile SWA access needs, Okta has partnered with Cerby to offer enterprise password management solutions at a discount. Interested customers can reach out to Okta for details.
  • For Device Trust
