Okta Error Occurs When Enabling Block Synced Passkeys for FIDO2 Authenticators

Overview
An error occurs when attempting to enable the Block synced passkeys for Fast Identity Online 2 (FIDO2) Web Authentication (WebAuthn) Authenticators feature in the Okta Admin Console. This happens because the setting must first be enabled within the specific authenticator configuration. Resolving this requires editing the Passkey authenticator settings before enabling the global feature. When attempting to enable the feature directly, the following error appears:

Cause
The feature cannot be enabled in the Settings menu until the block synced passkeys option is first enabled directly within the Passkey (FIDO2 WebAuthn) authenticator configuration.
Solution
How is the block synced passkeys error resolved?
Enable the block synced passkeys option within the authenticator settings, and then activate the feature globally.
- Navigate to the Okta Admin Console.
- Go to Security > Authenticators.
- Select Passkey (FIDO2 WebAuthn), click Actions, and choose Edit.
- Scroll to the Block synced passkeys section and enable the setting.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
- Go to Settings > Features.
- Locate Block synced passkeys for FIDO2 (WebAuthn) Authenticators and enable the feature.
