Okta Access Certification Campaigns Missing from Scheduled Tab After Disabling the Campaign Staging Feature

Okta Classic Engine
Identity Governance
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

Okta access certification campaigns disappear from the Scheduled tab of the Access Certifications dashboard after an administrator turns off the Campaign Staging Early Access (EA) feature. This occurs because the scheduled campaign moves to a staging status up to seven days before the start date, which hides one-off campaigns and duplicates recurring campaigns. Recreate one-off campaigns, clear staging on recurring campaigns, and turn off the Campaign Staging feature to resolve the issue.

Disabling feature Access Certification - Stage certification campaigns before launch can lead to unexpected outcomes for some campaigns. Reach out to support to discuss why you want to disable this feature / keep the feature enabled to avoid duplicate recurring campaigns from launching.

Applies To

  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Classic Engine
  • Okta Identity Governance
  • Access Certifications
  • Campaign Staging
  • Early Access (EA) Feature

Cause

When the Campaign Staging feature is active, a scheduled campaign moves from the Scheduled status to a staging status up to seven days before the start date. For one-off campaigns, the campaign record becomes the staging instance and becomes hidden from the Scheduled tab when the administrator turns off the feature. For recurring campaigns, the recurring series remains in the Scheduled status while the staged instance exists as a separate record. If the administrator turns the feature off and later turns it back on, both the staged instance and a newly launched instance exist for the same occurrence.

NOTE: Starting October 14, 2026, Okta automatically moves one-off campaigns in a staging status back to the Scheduled status within 10 minutes of the administrator turning off the feature, after which they will be able to see the campaigns under Scheduled tab as expected.

Solution

Ensure campaigns that have become associated with Staging feature are reverted back to Scheduled state by following the steps below.

  1. Turn on the feature Access Certification - Stage certification campaigns before launch until you complete the steps below.
  2. In the Admin Console, go to Identity Governance, and then select Access Certifications and go to the Scheduled tab.

  3. Find the campaigns that have either “Stage Campaign” , “Available Soon” , “Open Staged Campaign” in the Staging column.

  4. For each campaign in Step 3 that is a one-off (not recurring):

    1. Duplicate the campaign with start date >7 days away. (The start date can be modified to your original date later.)

    2. Delete the original campaign.

  5. For each campaign in Step 3 that is recurring:

    1. Stage the Campaign (Click on the Stage Campaign button) and let the process complete.

    2. Delete the Staged Campaign.

  6. Turn off the feature Access Certification - Stage certification campaigns before launch and verify that all Scheduled Campaigns are seen as expected.

  7. Adjust start dates as expected.

NOTE: After October 14, 2026, Okta automatically brings one-off campaigns into a Scheduled state after 10 minutes of disabling the Staging feature, but recurring campaigns will need to be manually moved into the right status to avoid already staged duplicates from launching.
