New Standard Signatures Applied to SMS Sent to Certain Chinese Carriers

Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Multi-Factor Authentication

Overview

This article describes a recent change in Chinese Telecom regulations affecting non-local registered dedicated signatures.

Applies To

  • SMS Multifactor
  • Chinese Telecom

Solution

Due to recent changes in Chinese Telecom regulations, signature registrations will now only be supported for companies based in China. As a result, all non-local registered dedicated signatures will be replaced by the generic signature 【优速通】, effective immediately for China Mobile users. Okta's telephony provider anticipates that this change may soon extend to all operating networks with little or no prior notice. While service will continue to function as usual, the only change will be the use of the signature 【优速通】in place of any previously registered signature.
