Missing Okta OIN App User Profile Attributes Before SCIM Provisioning Is Configured
Last Updated:
Overview
Certain application user profile attributes in Okta Integration Network (OIN) applications do not appear until administrators enable System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) provisioning. Configuring SCIM provisioning for the application resolves this issue and exposes the additional attributes. Administrators attempting to map or view specific user attributes in an OIN application notice that the expected attributes do not appear in the application profile.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Okta Integration Network (OIN)
- SCIM Provisioning
Cause
The OIN application exposes a base set of attributes for Single Sign-On (SSO) by default. Okta generates and displays the extended attributes required for lifecycle management in the application profile only after administrators have fully configured and enabled SCIM provisioning.
Solution
How do administrators expose the missing application user profile attributes?
Enable SCIM provisioning for the application to expose the missing user profile attributes by following these steps:
- Navigate to the Okta Admin Console.
- Go to Applications and select the desired application.
- Navigate to the Provisioning tab.
- Select Configure API Integration.
- Select the Enable API Integration checkbox.
- Enter the required API credentials for the application.
- Click Save.
- Navigate to Directory and select Profile Editor.
- Select the application profile to verify that the additional attributes now appear and remain available for mapping.
