SOLUTION AND WHAT TO EXPECT
Starting in late September, Microsoft will begin enforcing size limit validations. As a result, customers may encounter error messages or provisioning failures on the Okta side. To resolve these issues, customers must ensure that the attributes mentioned above do not exceed the specified limits.
Here is a sample error message that Okta administrators might see in Okta’s Microsoft Office 365 application:
“errorCode=ExceededAllowedLength; errorDescription=Unable to update this object in Azure Active Directory because the attribute [MSExchArchiveName] in the local Directory exceeds the maximum allowed length. To resolve this, reduce the length of the attribute in the local directory services and try again.”
Please be aware that if multiple attributes exceed the size limit, Microsoft will only send an error message for one attribute, not all. Therefore, Okta strongly advises our customers to ensure that the attributes listed above do not exceed the specified limits.
