Microsoft Office 365 Login Redirects to Microsoft Authenticator Skipping Okta Federation

Overview
Attempting to sign in via Microsoft Office 365 (O365) results in a redirection to Microsoft Authenticator, bypassing the Okta login process. This issue occurs because a Microsoft configuration defaults to Microsoft Authenticator for sign-in. Verify the user authentication method settings in the Microsoft Entra admin center to ensure Microsoft Entra ID does not force a default sign-in method.

Solution
How is the Microsoft Entra ID default sign-in method verified?
Verify the user authentication method settings in the Microsoft Entra admin center to ensure Microsoft Entra ID does not force a default sign-in method.
- Navigate to the Microsoft Entra admin center.
- Go to Identity > Users.
- Select the user.
- Select Authentication methods.
- Verify that the Default sign-in method shows No default.
NOTE: Contact Microsoft support for assistance changing this configuration, as this is a Microsoft Entra ID setting.
