Overview

This article explains the options available for copying settings, configurations, applications, users, and groups from one Okta organization to another.

Applies To
  • Copying an Okta organization
  • Okta configurations
Solution

There is no built-in option to migrate or copy all components and configurations from one Okta organization to another. However, several options are available to help manage multiple Okta instances:

  • Use Okta Org2Org to manage users and groups across multiple Okta organizations.
  • Utilize the Core Okta API to list, update, create, and delete other components such as users, policies, rules, and factors.
  • Employ a third-party Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool. For example, use the Okta integration with HashiCorp Terraform to define and deploy Okta configurations to multiple organizations.

NOTE: Transferring Okta configurations is a complex process. Thoroughly plan and test the process before attempting a migration. Consider consulting with an Okta representative or professional services consultant to ensure a successful migration.
