How to Use the Okta Verify Account Picker Feature

When a user enrolls multiple accounts in Okta Verify and triggers a FastPass authentication, the user is prompted to explicitly choose an account from a picker screen instead of silently using the default account. Configure the Okta Verify account picker feature by enrolling multiple accounts and setting or clearing a default account in the Okta Verify application. Okta Verify for macOS 9.71 and later includes this feature, and future releases of Okta Verify for Windows will support it.

How does the Okta Verify account picker function?

Use the Okta Verify account picker to select an account during FastPass authentication by following these steps.

1. Enroll two or more accounts in Okta Verify on the macOS device.
2. Trigger a FastPass authentication by signing in to an Okta-protected application in a browser.
3. View the Choose an account screen that appears if the user has not configured a default account. This screen displays the organization logo and a list of enrolled accounts.

Review the account picker options and select an account to authenticate by reviewing the following details.

• If the user previously selected an account, Okta displays it in a Last Used section above the full All accounts list.
• Select an account row to authenticate with it.
• Select Cancel the sign-in attempt to abort the authentication.

Okta Verify provides options to configure or clear a default account.

Configure the default account settings to skip the picker or restore the prompt by reviewing the following options.

• At the picker, select Don't ask me again before selecting an account to set it as the default. Future authentications skip the picker. Okta clears this option by default.
• Open Okta Verify, select the account to view the Account Details screen, and toggle Set as default for Okta FastPass to the on position. Users can configure only one account per organization as the default at a time. Setting a new default account unsets the previous default.
• To restore the picker, open Okta Verify, navigate to the Account Details screen for the default account, and clear the default toggle.
