How to Transfer Okta FastPass Prompt to Another Device

Overview

To transfer an Okta Verify prompt between enrolled devices, such as from laptop A to laptop B, the user must select the "Other options" or "Use a different device" link on the authentication screen to choose their preferred secondary device.

Solution

One of the security features of FastPass is that it cannot be performed from another device, which prevents the opportunity for remote phishing.


Instead, a second device can be enrolled with FastPass using the Add Account to Another Device option that can be found on the first device by following the below steps:

  1. Open the Okta Verify Application on the device;
  2. Select the account for which a second device needs to be enrolled;
  3. Scroll down to the Manage Account section, and there should be the Add Account to Another Device button.
